Q2 - How can I pay for my caravan insurance?

You can pay by Switch, Debit or Credit Card or by cheque for the full amount or set up a direct debit.

Q3 - Who are the British Holiday & Home Parks Association (BH & HPA) ?

The BH & HPA is the only organisation established exclusively to serve and represent the interests of the British parks industry. They have expertise knowledge in many areas including touring caravans. BH & HPA is a vital and leading organisation within the caravanning industry for both the trade and customer.

Q5 - What should I do in the event of a claim?

You must report to us any loss, damage, Incident or claim or any occurrence likely to give rise to a claim and of the institution of any proceedings being brought against you, as soon as reasonably possible but, in no event later than 30 days after you became aware of the Incident.

Q7 - How much should I insure my caravan for?

If your caravan is less than 5 years old it can be insured on a new for old basis. Once insured the new for old protection continues for as long as you require it. The caravan must be insured at all times for the cost of a brand new equivalent. If your caravan, irrespective of its age, has been purchased from a bona-fide caravan dealer it can be insured on an ‘agreed value’ basis for up to 12 months from date of purchase. It should therefore be insured for the purchase price.

Q8 - When is my touring caravan covered?

Your touring caravan will be covered at all times, whether in storage, at your property or on a site as long as the required Security Requirements have been met.

Q9 - Is my touring caravan covered whilst being towed?

Accidental damage is covered whilst the caravan is being towed although Public Liability cover will be provided by the insurance company of the towing vehicle. You should ensure that your car insurance covers for third party towing risks.

Q10 - Can I take my caravan abroad?

Yes, you touring caravan is covered for 240 days in any insurance year for trips in Europe

Q11 - Does the policy cover accidental damage at all times, all year round?

Yes, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year whilst in storage, on site and when being towed. Accidental damage for your touring caravan is covered for 240 days in any insurance year for trips in Europe.

Whilst you are not on holiday with your caravan, it must be at one of the following approved locations:

Q14 - What security requirements are there?

It is a condition of the cover that, when unattended, your caravan is fitted with a hitch lock plus at least one of the following security devices:

Q15 - Will a hitch lock need to be fitted if my caravan is stored at a site?

The requirement for a hitch lock and other security devices will not apply when your caravan is stored at a site, in a securely locked compound designed for the purpose of storing caravans with a clearly defined perimeter that identifies it as a private area and restricts unauthorized access and exit as far as possible and which benefits from infra-red alarm protection, CCTV surveillance, security lighting, daily supervision and inspection.

Q16 - Do you offer no-claims discount?

Yes, and infact we were the first organisation to introduce the concept of no-claims bonus to the touring caravan insurance market. We offer up to 45% no-claims discounts.

Q17 - Do you offer discounts for security devices?

Yes, we offer great discounts for good security features and also for secure storage, especially CaSSOA approved storage facilities. Responsible touring caravan owners with security on their vans, can save as much as 20%! Have a security alarm fitted and save 5%. If you have a thief beater, tracker or phantom devices you could save 20%. Secure storage could get you up to 5% discount on your touring caravan insurance.

Yes, if you are a new caravanner you can get up to 20% discount on touring caravan insurance

Q19 - Is there a policy excess?

Yes, the policy access is £100 of any claim

Yes, items such as Awnings, Toilets/Toilet Tents, Generators, Gas Bottles, Batteries, Stabilisers, Security devices and the like.

Q22 - Can I insure my contents?

Yes, accidental loss or damage to contents and personal effects whilst in the touring caravan can be included for an additional premium. We can offer two levels of cover £750 or £1000

Q23 - What is not covered?

Please note: There are additional exclusions in the policy documents

Q24 - Can anyone else use the caravan?

Only family members can be put on the policy and use the caravan

Q25 - Is there a minimum/maximum age for policy holders?

No, as long as they have full driving license

Q26 - Are legal costs covered?

Yes, we will pay your legal costs for defending the claim as agreed by us

Q27 - What personal accident cover is available?

Personal accident cover up to £25,000 whilst you are on holiday with your caravan

Q28 - What is the maximum amount you will pay?

The maximum amount we will pay for any one claim is £2,000,000, including legal costs.
